Unlike most aircraft, the concept started out as an industrial design project and evolved with engineering input. Designed as one of the first hybrid electric aircraft its perfect for remote destinations, and trips into the remote wilderness. The Ottermatics team was integral part of the aircraft's design, sizing the wing, tails and control surfaces. Recently the team has been providing aerodynamic structural loads in preparation of the Equator's first flight. The Equator achieved its first flight in 2018 and is currently undergoing a crowdfunding campaign. Sabine is a small passive amplifier made out of aluminium which attaches to an iPad through an innovative micro suction cup material. The material leaves no residue and never loses it's grip. Three different variations were originally modeled in CAD in a single night. The different versions were 3D printed in aluminide to check form and function. The chosen design was prototyped overseas in two weeks without any tooling costs. The production launch was crowdfunded through Kickstarter .
